Narcissus

Most people know the story of Narcissus. A story about a youth who knelt beside the lake to contemplate his own beauty. One day he was so fascinated by him self that he fell into the lake and drowned. But there is more…

After Narcissus died the goddess of the forest realized that the once fresh water lake had turned into a lake of salty tears.

“why do you weep?,” The goddess asked.

“I weep for Narcissus,” the lake replied.

“Ah of course you weep for Narcisuss, even though we all knew him, you alone had the chance to contemplate his beauty close at hand.”

“But…was Narcissus beautiful?” the lake asked.

“Who better than you to know the answer to that?, After all it was by your banks he knelt each day to contemplate himself!,” the goddess said in wonder.

The lake was silent for some time. Finally, it said:

“I weep for Narcissus, but i never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful. I weep because. each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, on the DEPTH of HIS EYES, my OWN beauty reflected…”

What a lovely story

Maybe this is why I was so sad Clement passed away. I loved the way that I saw my self in you, in our conversations and the goals we had set for our future. Maybe I can have similar conversations with other people but the reflected image of my self will never be as clear or real when it was through Clement. The funny thing is that you gave me the book with this quote! Could I be just fitting this story in to apply to my situation? I dont know, and i dont care, I like this, and to me it fits. I am gonna read this book again. It was an amazing gift Clement, thanks.
